Does anyone know how to get unwanted pages to move down in the search engine? When we type in the company's name, the pages that are coming up have inaccurate information on them but we can't take them down because they're not on our site. They were part of a press release so they are listed on other sites. Any advice?

If you cannot have any affect on the site or pages in question by either removing them or altering them, then you have little chance in affecting their positioning in the SERPs.

There's no way to "harm" sites that are not your own. If they have inaccurate, false, harmful, or libelous information, you should seek legal representation and see if you can get them removed.

If you just don't like what they say, then you're pretty much stuck with them.

Is it an old press release from your company that is no longer accurate? Have you tried contacting the sites that have this press release up, perhaps sending along a newer press release, with accurate information?

Not sure if this is ethical or not, but you 'could' providing you have a higher page rank than these pages, duplicate them, place them on your server, and that would stop them from appearing, as your version would show up. all you need to do then, is add an out of date information notice.

I personally would not do that though, but if it is causing you problems, then you might have no choice.

The easiest way though, would be to contact the companies and ask them to pull the information.
