I've been contacted twice by a company called <snip>. On both occasions they've asked me to be a reseller for their website promotion product called <snip> which is a gateway based product.
Has anyone heard of this company and if so, do you know whether I'm missing something and if they're ethical or not? And even if they're not ethical does it work (not that I'd use their services if they were unethical but I do like to give my clients the whole picture so they can make their own descisions)?
During the discussions it transpires that they use gateway pages, they discuss the option of making these gateway pages visible to the search engines, but not the users etc. and generally talk quite openly about a number of activities I've always avoided as being unethical (cloaking being one)
The chaps I spoke to both positioned themselves as knowledgeable Internet marketeers however made some statements that didn't hold true (i.e. Yahoo owns 95% of the worlds search engines and SiteMatch will soon be the only way a company can get their website ranked in the future).
They also claimed to have agreements and dispensations from certain search engines and named Yahoo as one.
Now all of this to me sounds wrong, unethical and something we should avoid at all costs particularly as we promote a 100% ethical approach to website promotion. :halo:
However I just thought I'd check to see if anyone specifically knew of this company, or similar ones, and had any thoughts they could share.
Removed specifics as per TOS.
