Hi there, Not sure if this has worked but...
I am trying to find out how many visitors to various websites are from the UK?? does anyone have any ideas?
This might be really basic but I have been kinda thrown into the whole SEM thing at the deep end and am floundering around trying to swim!!
Cheers :aloha:

Welcome Nigeypige !

That question is going to be a hard one to answer, because a lot is going to depend upon the type of site, what it's subject matter is, what market it is targeting and where the site is located.

Last time I looked, my sites get about 5% of total visitors from the UK, but I don't really target that market. I'm quite sure that those here who specifically target the UK market have a much higher percentage of visitors from UK Visitors.

An impossible question to answer!

As pointed out, if you are promoting a site in the Cotswolds for the Moreton-in-March Morris Dancing Festival - it is probable that 100% of your visitors will come from English people interested in Morris Dancing - probably all in the UK!

If, however, you were lucky (or unlucky) enough to come up for the word "dancing" on worldwide searches, I would expect a relatively small amount of visitors to come from searchers in the UK.

I have sites that target people from specific geographical areas in the UK and expect around 80% of visitors to be in the UK. On the otherhand I have sites that are for a UK company that sells globally and uses US spelling. Barely any visitors come from the UK.

So - it all depends on what you want to do.

If you are looking for proportions - around 30 million people in the UK access the internet at least once a month. Compare that with the online populations in other English speaking countries - and that will give you a fair idea of the proportion of searches made by UK surfers.
