Is there a free tool available by which you can check the rankings for your keywords in various search engines in one go ? Checking your rankings for 10 different keywords in 10 engines manually can be a herculean task. Any suggestions?

Check out these two threads. They both discuss it fairly heavily.

The one thing I can tell you is that most "checking" software goes against the major search engines' terms of service agreement. So, if you use them, you might get yourself in trouble, banned, or booted.

Here is a service that will do a simultaneous search for a single URL and keyword in 20 different SEs. Not exactly what you asked for but half way there: RankPilot

Sorry, but don't agree with this statement. If used responsibly - ie. not several times a day! - then, in my experience, none of the search engines give you hassle.

The one notable exception is Google where I will NEVER do an automated search - either do manual searches or use the Yahoo Web Pages (supplied by Google) rankings as a guide.

What about this one: MarketLeap keyword verification

Is this one also against the TOS of Google?

I hope not... I've used that one a number of times. But frankly, I've never checked.

I believe the MarketLeap tools are approved by all the engines. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Suddenly I'm worried about this. I looked at their freetools/default page, and it doesn't say either way, and I would tend to think that if the tools were approved by the SEs they'd say so.

I'm going to have to email them to make sure.

Bob

Now you've got me worried too! - I'd just assumed the marketleap keyword tool was ok - 'The curse of assumption'!

I await your reply from Google with some trepidation...

Thanks for raising this, Peter.

I think we're coming up on eight hours since I submitted the form, and no word yet. I gave them a link to this thread, so maybe they'll stop by and set us all at ease.

As I understand it, whether MarketLeap's tool is approved by SE's such as Google or not, you're not putting yourself at risk by using it. This is because Google wouldn't be able to tell that it's YOU using it as opposed to one of your competitors checking rankings continuously on your site.

Basically, it wold be tough for Google to punish you for something your competitors could be doing to sabotage your rankings.

Has anyone used MarketLeap's link popularity checker. It is awesome.

I use all of them. But despite Ed's assurances, I'm still worried... it's more a "right/wrong" kind of thing than a "will I get nicked" situation though. Silly me.

I will check this thread when I get to work tomorrow and if it is not answered will call David Fischer over at Google and ask him directly what software is ok to use.

Just realized... I do not use this but then I can check for the 50 important keywords by looking at the first 2-3 pages... and the obscure ones are generally on the first page... but I work full time at one place with seven international sites that get great placement through links from affiliates and the serious banner ads we place on major online publications and the mention in articles that get written.
Job gets easier that way. Link popularity really works.
