Im trying to find a resource for locating the longitudinal and latitudinal positions of any place on earth.

I realise that a GPS device would do the job that I want, although, via this route I would have to visit the precise location of every place that I wanted to log.

Is anyone aware of an online resource whereby I could find this information. I want to show users the distance between a given place and or location.

TIA for any suggestions.
