the company president and i are debating an xml feed site and trying to determine if it is worth it or not. they say they crawl our site and generate an xml blueprint where they submit to all the major pay per inclusion sites like overture, fast, etc. they also take the responsibility of optimizing the keywords. the cost is 25 cents a click. is this worth it?

If your pages are having trouble getting indexed the free way, and you are in need of clickthrough reporting, it can be worthwhile.

If you're using PositionTech, they do a good job of optimizing your feeds for you, which is a big plus.

Jill,

do these pay per inclusion engines always rank the paying customers ahead of natural search or is it still possible to get good ranks through hard work an optimization?

sort of, that's why i started a new thread b/c this company is a SEM and not the pay per inclusion engine or directory. my question is if the xml feed and third party monitoring makes the difference.

of the 3 xml feed programs to search engines:
- yahoo (overture site match xchange) does not boost officially.
- infospace, yes as you can actually increase your cpc rate and as such receive a ranking boost
- mirago xml feeds receive a major ranking boost

then there are xml feeds to PPC engines such as Overture, FindWhat, Kanoodle etc... these are based on your CPC rate that you bid on.

Mirago is a UK Search provider, just like Inktomi, however they concentrate on UK traffic. Some of their partner sites are: Ask Jeeves UK, Infospace UK, Tiscali, DogPile UK, IXQuick, FortuneCity UK, UK Net Guide, SouthOnline, etc..

Their XML feeds receive a substantial ranking boost.

So if you have 500 + pages on your site you would benefit from this program.
A rate card CPC pricing like Overture Site Match Xchange. is applicable.

Drop me an email for more info and exact rates.

Cheers
David
