Ever Heard Of Weblog Expert?
Posted 16 May 2004 - 04:59 PM
Finally found a question I can ask! Or perhaps I just couldn't find the right thread where it was discussed . Anyways, I'm doing some writing on the side and the client gave me a file from her programmer that has all of her statistics all analyzed out with lots of pie charts and graphs and stuff. It doesn't show any se rankings, so I'm assuming that it's just for purely analyzing her weblogs and nothing else. The program is called WebLog Expert- anybody hear of it?
Even more, it can't be used for anthing other than compiling statistics, can it? I've never heard of it before and was hoping someone can set me straight.

I can't tell you about that one specifically, but I can tell you in my testing I preferred FunnelWeb for a free web analytics program that doesn't have to be installed at the server level.
I'm not knocking WebLog Expert... I just don't remember enough about it to be helpful!

It provides a fair bit of control over which reports you get, how often you get them and reporting periods.
My use is mainly to track the effect of offline and offsite programs on traffic to client sites. We don't do much e-commerce so I don't know how Weblog Expert would compare when it comes to pulling together conversion rates, etc.

Log file analysers are not meant to check your rankings for different phrases, for that there is specialised software which does it.

It just analyzes the content of your log files.
Reports do include, referrers (such as the SEs), visits to your site by crawlers and keyword strings used to find your site.
