Hi guys, :hmm:

Can anybody enlighten me as to googles requirements for displaying their ads on my site?

What are the realities of plunging in to this. Apart from the obvious ones of re-directing traffic away from your own pages.

Is it possible to only display complementary products that do not compete directly. Or are you at the mercy of the Google monster!

Thanks

Tonemeister you can start by reading this: [https://google.com/adsense/policies]

Then after that you can check this out which explains that you can filter out any ads you deem to be innappropriate for your site [https://google.com/a...se/faq#basics3]

It mostly depends upon what your page is all about. Google's technology bases what ads show up, by what words are on your page.

If you see a competitor in there, you can block their ads from showing up with a URL filter in the Google AdSense settings module. It would be something you would have to keep a constant eye on however as there are always new advertisers coming on board.

Additionally, as lizzielu and cline figured out on this thread, you won't see the ads of businesses using regional targeting to areas other than where you live. So, a competitor could theoretically advertise to everyone in the nation by your state on your site without your knowledge.

Hmmm, Interesting. Is there a tracking system in place that would allow you to 'see' who's advertising on your site?

Although my site sells to a (nearly) worldwide audience, I live in Thailand (Hey, it's cheap and the sun is always shining! ) and I can see that maybe a problem with seeing exactly what kind of ads are being displayed.
