Speed Of Inclusion Into Google
Posted 14 May 2004 - 12:58 AM
I'm in the web optimization game like everyone else here.
I'm just curious how fast some of you can get a client listed into Google?

To do this though you need to have a link to the new site from a page that has a bit of PR, and is spidered daily.
I would say for safety sake you should allow 28 days and tell the client 6-8 weeks.

I'd concur with OWG. My new sites tend to get spidered quite quickly to get the process started. But it's usually a few weeks before everything is included in the index.
In my experience, getting some quality links pointing to a new site makes all the difference in the world when you're trying to get a new site established. This is especially true with Google, but applies to some degree with all of the major search engines.

The site had a PR 0/10 so I used a press release with PRWeb.com (PR 7/10) with a link in the article back to the site. Googlebot visited the site the same day I did the press release and the site was showing marginally in the SERPs 2 days later. Keep in mind, the site is going to struggle in the SERPs until I can get the link popularity raised; however, I was rather satisfied with the effectiveness of PRWeb.com distribution network. Incidently, the press release was accessed 42,170 times and was picked up by over 742 media outlets.
Note: If you're going this route for faster indexing, make sure the press release is informational and not too self-promotional. Most media outlets will only pick it up if they feel that the information would be of interest to their readers.

MSN seems to dawdle a bit, and AllTheWeb and Teoma seem to take a longer time.

6-8 weeks is a safe bet.
