Hi,
I've tried several meta tag analyzers and have had such different results that it
is impossible to tell truth from fiction. I've read a zillion articles and followed the
recommended guidelines.
A couple said that using the same keyword more than 3 times was a big "no, no". Others said to add more keywords.
Some said I had no title tag or meta tags at all while others saw the page.
I doubled and triple checked syntax so I can rule out typos. Not to mention the cutting and pasting as a tie breaker.
The one I tried on Scrubby (Scrub the Web) said I had no charset on some pages.
But the one on Bcentral saw it fine.
So what will the SE's see?
Now I got 25 years component level microprocessor debug so this stuff is not that complex to me but I gotta say something is awefully strange.
Any help, advice, tools, etc.. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
J

Welcome jpatriar ! Nice to meet you.
As to your question, tools are just tools. If your syntax is correct and the page validates pretty well, but some of these tools don't see your meta tags I would simply disregard those. Nothing is perfect.
If you want to see what your web site looks like to the spiders, using a Lynx browser is a pretty good option. That won't show you things like Meta tags, but those aren't all that important anymore.
Search engines today do make limited use of both Meta Keyword and Meta Description tags, but those elements alone will not get your site a good ranking. I still put them in my sites, but it's not something I spend a lot time on honestly.
Visitors never see them, and search engines don't put much weight on them, so I use my Meta tags more to make sure I'm keeping my focus when writing copy for each page. No need to include my targeted keyword phrases more than once since I'm just using them as a reference.
