Hi Guys,

I noticed a post on another forum (sorry Jill!) about google content ads finally producing ROI for advertisers.

I had previously turned my content ads option off, as my experience to date had been, well.....PANTS ;)

So, I thought, I'll give it a try switched it back on (yesterday)and........hey presto sales doubled! Have google finally sorted this thing out? Well obviously 1 day isn't anything to shout about but i'll keep you posted on the ongoing results.

I should mention that recently I've started running seperate campaigns per country. All of which have had seperate keyword research done by territory, and I think this is contributing a lot to the success of the ads both on a cost basis and a conversion basis.

If anyone isn't already doing this you are missing out big time! The language people use to search can vary greatly between even english language countries. Not to mention the european market. Give it a try!

Anyway thats my 2cents, Hope it's useful for someone. :raspberry:

I have no experience with AdWords, so I need to ask a dumb question:
By "turned my content ads option off" do you mean you chose not to have your ads show on AdSense publisher's pages?

If so, maybe recent AdSense payment policy changes have helped advertiser ROI? In general, "The amount of revenue that a publisher earns through Google AdSense depends on the content of each web page, the availability of AdWords ads, and now, the value of the leads provided to advertisers." (quote from 4/1 email, emphasis mine)

Is URL to this thread posted somewhere? I'd like to read it.

Thanks!

:D

Hi I'll see if I can track the url down again, maybe if you do a google search on content or contextual advertising ROI it will throw it up. And yes your right that if you turn content ads off, your ads wont show on ad sense ads.

Noticed something else since my last posting also.

The clicks for search network ads have gone down significantly since switching content on. Which is a bit irritating and perplexing. :hmm: It'll probably settle down again in a day or so.

I've seen changes in the profitability of Content Delivery. Yes, part of that is due to click-pricing adjustments, but part of it is due to the increased number and quality of sites running Adsense, and, I believe, improvements in Google's ability to put the optimal ads on each page running Adsense.

In general, however, I'm still seeing higher cost per conversions via Adsense delivery vs. search delivery.

Thanks, Tonemeister. I found a thread on contextual / AdSense ad ROI.

From the AdSense side of the fence, I've noticed that each time G makes a change in the program - as they did this week - results tend to be a bit unpredictable for a couple of days. Maybe affects network to contextual ratio as well until any bottlenecks/road-bumps are worked out...maybe they gotta retrain the pigeons or something.
