You really cannot rely much on the link: command at Google. It doesn't show you nearly everything and seems to change what it shows every other week.
We've discussed this a few times before, so you may want to keep an eye out for those threads.

You are correct in that Google is not counting backlinks from any file names "links" whether it be "links.htm," "links.html," "links.asp," etc., etc.

If i get a reply from any of you two on this i need to take a decision. You said that google is not counting links from pages who have "link" word in the filename. That means links.html, links.asp etc or it also includes links11.html? Thanks for your response.

Can you clarify that? Do you mean by "not counting" that those links are not showing up in a link: query, or that they're not counting them at all?You are correct in that Google is not counting backlinks from any file names "links"
And what about modifications of "link" or "links"? I've got backlinks showing up on link: queries that are on pages with names like "liens.htm" (French for links), "fashion_links.asp", "linksmodels.htm", and "resources.cfm".

Don't know about other variations though, I think it is just "links."

Some how I knew that would be the solution. Seems a bit of a silly policy on Google's part. A links page has been a standard since the dawn of the web. To now ignore those links simply b/c they are not on a page with a ton of content is a waste of time.
There are so many sites out there that have nothing but tons of links on their site that have no relevancy and any named page, now every home page of an average user out there that loves this site or that site will not be giving credit to that site simply b/c they put it on a links page.
Seems to me they're loosing a lot of legitimate backlinks to try and prevent the spammers.

Example I have SITES A< B< C<D
I'm using SITE A for link exchanges, but not on a page, more like a directory. But I don't ask for link exchanges for SITE A.
I'll list your site on SITE A, But I'd rather you link to B< C< D, etc.
This way google doesn't see it as a "link exchange" Because A &B don't match,
This is my new test on things anyhow.

Try this search ( http://www.google.co...tml&btnG=Search ) and do a bit of research, Google has started ignoring links from pages names links.html,links.htm etc, This is a long time story,
But some pages do slip through dont know why but most of the pages named links.html etc is not showing as backlinks,

You showed me serps with over 3 million sites in the results...and the top 5 sites/pages all have PageRank of 7 or better....
All end in links.html or link.....

So what Vijay is pointing out is that links pages get indexed, but links from them don't appear to mean as much.
I'm going to try a little something. I'll rename the page seo-resources.htm and see what happens.

I don't get it.
Bob is right, I meant those pages are not showing as backlinks for pages linking from them, Possibly not passing pagerank too,
Those pages are indexed pretty fine, I mentioned in a old thread those pages might pass Anchor text power but possibly they are not passing pagerank and mostly not showing in the backlink command (link: )
