Hi,

This may have been discussed previously, but has anyone else noticed that there are now about twice as many results in Google - what I mean is at the top of the Google search it says "Result 1 to 10 of 62300". I watch about 24 keyword phrases and almost without exception, the result numbers have gone up big time.

Is this because nearly everyone now has a website so there's more competition or what's going on - many of the results don't seem to be very relevant anyway.

Yes, Netbird. I agree something very dramatic has happened in the last 24 hours with Google. I can't comment on your observation about total number of pages but here's something else.

I watch the Google ranking of a particular web page for a particular keyword phrase, which is fairly competitive. The web page has been stable at about #39 for the past two to three weeks.

This morning it is suddenly not in the top 100. I have checked this out at a number of datacenters and it's disappeared from the top 100. It still appears in two datacenter results.

In the old -dc ( 216.239.39.104 ) it's #87 and
in the old -cw ( 216.239.57.104 ) it's #84.

I'm watching what's happening with obvious interest. :zz:

I have been monoriting Google for 3 key phrases over the last month to see if the changes I make work...

The results are as follows, reading down...

(1) (2) (3)

10 12 19
11 14 18
18 13 18
12 15 18
11 9 19
11 9 19
11 9 19
12 9 19
11 9 18
12 9 18
10 9 15
10 13 15
11 9 15
12 9 15
12 9 15
12 10 16
12 8 16
12 10 15
14 16 13
12 11 15
12 12 15
13 13 16
13 12 16
11 17 11
12 12 16
10 11 17
10 9 17
10 12 16
10 12 16
10 14 19

Although they jump around a bit, overall they are pretty steady.

The same keyword results from Yahoo over the same period...

6 1 6
6 1 6
6 1 7
5 1 7
5 1 7
5 1 7
6 1 7
6 91 13
6 91 13
6 91 13
6 92 13
5 9 1
6 93 13
64 116 15
64 100 15
7 9 1
8 8 1
7 9 1
8 9 1
8 9 1
8 9 1
8 9 1
5 4 1
8 8 1
8 9 1
8 8 1
8 8 1
5 4 1
5 4 1
5 4 1

Of course Yahoo have had big changes recently and one would expect to see the jumps.

Some people may say i´m sad to check every day but the changes I make seem to have an effect on the results, if not daily, but weekly.
