Hello, we are doing in house SEO work and would like recommendations on books. We will be doing mostly natural search result optimization. Anyone read the seobook at www.seobook.com? I am thinking of getting this and few others, any recommendations would be appreciated.

I am using The Unfair Advantage Book by Planet Ocean and think it is really good. When you download the book you get updates for a certain number of months and they keep you on top of what's happening in the search engines in a timely manner. That's my ;)

Hi Egghead,

You may want to take a look at Dan Thies' seo book Not sure when he last updated it, but he stays on top of things.

You can contact Aaron directly and ask him questions about his book, He is a nice and talented guy and I feel his book should be good enough, I am not sure what is in the book but seeing his capabilities I feel the book should be good, :)

Hi!
I would suggest you study these forums thoroughly rather than consulting any book as most of these physical books are generally obsolete and can't give you the insight into the latest trends though I must say basic optimization skills remain the same.

Hi, Egghead. I just got done reading Search Engine Optimization for Dummies (yeah, I know), and thought it was a pretty good introduction to SEO. The book is very well written, and it's brand new (meaning that it's not obsolete yet). It's an easy read (though there is a suprising amount of detail) and it's cheap; I recommend it as a good place to start. After that, you'll understand what everybody in the forums is talking about...

Welcome Madman !

Good choice there on SEO primer book. I've got to admit that I love all of the "Dummies" books. They do such a good job of helping you get a firm foundation, without being overly technical.

Hi and welcome Egghead! Good to have you aboard!

Welcome, Madman! (and danny)

I agree the dummies books rock a bit. Usually very well written (though a few of them are just odd).

I was going to say something witty about understanding what people talk about around here but it just didn't work out quite as funny in writing.

Welcome to the fun and games Dan! ;)

Jeremy: Was the thought you had in mind something along the lines of "Don't worry about understanding absolutely everything. Heck Randy admitted to me once that he doesn't even understand himself most days! No way anybody can make sense of his ramblings if he can't make any sense of them himself!"

Cuz it would be totally accurate. ;)

Actually, that's almost exactly what I was going to say, just broader in scope! ;) And yes, it's always funnier when it's true.

I find myself guilty of trying to post when I'm limited on time, which makes for a...right, I often look back and wonder what the heck I was talking about. ;)
