Alexa Rating?

hi not sure i posted in the right place....if not mod please move it

how bad is a 3,327,643 rating on the alexa toolbar......i know that the smaller the better but how does it compare to other sites.....whats the worst it can go and how close to the bottom is it?

Alexa rankings are meaningless, imo.

I don't know how many sites they've got listed, but I think their db is based on Google's, so it would be quite a few -- not 4 billion though, since Alexa ranks sites rather than pages.

But one thing you can tell about what Alexa considers important is that if your site isn't within the top 100,000 for traffic (what they count as traffic, that is), they don't bother giving you one of those lovely graphs. You just get an image where the graph would be with the words "Not in top 100,000" on it.

Who needs 'em, I say :huh:

But Alexa is smelly pants! if you are really worried about your Alexa ratings, just install the toolbar and visit your own site a lot, easy as that :huh:

I have sites that have Alexa ratings that would make you squint they are so small, but they do the business, it really is an insignificant value that does nothing, or means nothing. It is used by webmasters as it is so easy to manipulate and display to the client as a 'resounding improvement'

I must take my medication now, doctor said not to get excited.
