Do you know this tool: [www.googlerankings.com/index.php]

Is it trustworthy? Two days ago it showed my site on position 571 for my main keyword but I was finding nothing in a normal search - I was not listed within the 1000 first sites. Yesterday the tool showed the same results and today I'm on position 552, always according to this tool. Not yet on a "regular" search though.

Any input?
Maria

Welcome, Maria! :smart: I had to edit your link as per out guidelines.

I'm not familiar with that particular tool, but I hope that it uses Google's API interface so that you're not breaking their terms of service about doing automated queries which uses up their bandwidth.

That said, Google has a number of databases, and your site can rank differently in each of them. So when you see your site ranking in one position one day, and another position another day, there's a good chance that you're simply seeing results from 2 different databases.

Thank you Jill! And ouch - not very knowledgeable... I don't even understand what you mean by "uses Google's API interface" but never mind - do you think they're recording my searches and that this may do some damage to my website?? I think I saw this tool somewhere on this forum a few months ago but I may be mistaken.

So being listed on one database doesn't mean I will get listed on the main database in the future?

The different data centers share information and update each other. That used to happen once every month or so, and was called the "Google Dance."

Now it seems to just happen all the time -- new and changed pages get indexed, they show up in one DB, then it gets sent to the others pretty quickly.

I wonder how long it will take Google to cease and desist them on using the word Google in their domain name.

G's lawyers are probably all tied up with the impending IPO paperwork. :(

Otherwise, I'm betting not long.

I'll tell ya I've gotten a few false positive results with the googlerankings tool. Generally its not bad (yes I believe they're using the API), but i've done a search for alta log homes and the domain name altaloghomes.com and its returned an entirely different site.

I've been playing with it a lot latey to do quick checks on several sites and for the most part its accurate for whatever data center it hits at that time.

googleranking has some problem with their code. It can sometime show a page which has link to your site. I can understand this because i am also working on this. Right now i am testing something similar. I request you all to please try it and let me know if there are any problems. Just go to softcellsolutions.com/googleranking.php and type your site and keyword. You can check in 1000 results and any of 3 datacentres.

Sahid,

I tried it out with my trouble site on googlerankings.com and returned no results. When I checked Google its actually currently ranked 12.

I used altaloghomes.com and 'alta log homes' for the test. I tested it on another site and it worked fine.
