How come google visits our main page every night but the cache on google only updates every few days. Why would they want to visit that much if they don't update that fast?

It's just the way they work. They may put it into one database, and then eventually it gets out to the public one.
The fact that they even update most sites in just a few days is quite incredible, if you ask me. We used to wait 4 - 6 weeks and some times more for pages to get updated. Especially...for free!

Wowzee - is it really down to a few days now? I remember when I re-did all our pages a few months ago and it took weeks!

Oh no complaining from me....
Was just wondering. We have about three SE's crawl our site a day but only see a few updates here and there. We just moved our site to our new host and are shuting down our own servers for now. I hope over a few weeks we can drop the double listings from the serps. We are focused on just the one domain name now.
