I didn't have time to check too many, but definitely found a few PR3 sites listed as backlinks to my site.

Debra is definitely right!

Another SEO myth dispelled.  WTG, Debra! :lmao:

Jill

I don't want to beat a dead horse Jill, but why weren't you as magnanious as this when I suggested that maybe the PR4 rule wasn't necessarily cast in stone? Could it possinbly be because I wasn't a moderator?

Somehow it just doesn't seem fair. But don't apologize. When I suggested it, I was an idiot. But when Debra suggests it, she is a hero. Make sense to me.

Debra took the time to research it, and showed us all the proof.

Tell me something, and I probably won't believe you. Show me the proof, and you too can be a hero.

It's been "common knowledge" that Google doesn't show backlinks that are less than PR4, but perhaps that's changed recently.

Seeing backlinks with PR less than 4 is not new. I first noticed this way back in Feb 2003 and it was a backlink to highrankings.com. Thereafter I saw it frequently on my own sites as well as others. The discussion is http://www.ihelpyous...78520#post78520 - of course the link referred to is no longer the first link for highrankings.com as that was many months ago. :D

Thank you for the welcome, Jill. I have been seeing backlinks < PR4 regularly since Feb 2003.

I don't think these are myths. It's just representative of the way Google is evolving and moving to more frequent updates, often called rolling updates. As part of this, the next mantra to change should be the one about 'waiting at least one month' before Google does anything with new stuff they may have spidered. Since August 11, my backlinks have been updated twice - the numbers went up signficantly each time - and both times I saw links that were less than 10 days old. Of course mine is a very small and insignificant sample - just a handful of web sites where I know when each link went up. :D

Good advice Polarmate-

Even though we know things change, it's easy to get caught up in "the way things are".

Welcome to the forum! :) It's great to see you here! :)
