Where is the api getting its results? We've consistently been ranked well for our search term, 'plastic caps' and according to the Digital Point link tracker and the google api we are ranked #1 for this kwp. However, when I search G. w/ the toolbar, we show up at #17.

What's the  deal?

(note: I don't really follow the results that closely, but the head cheeses do and :) rolls downhill  )

How long a period of time are we talking about here? I often notice small discrepencies between the API and the results at google.com, but they never seem to last more than a couple of days for me.

Reading a few previous posts in here I see that google uses diferent caches or 'stores' of results... perhaps thay are pulling results from different places?...

orrr, (Ive asked this before but havent found an answer as yet ),... perhaps you are higher on the programmes that include paid advertising but the google official one only uses the 'actual' or 'natural' results?

Nope. The results at Google (every version of Google) are completely segregated between organic and paid. The ads aren't part of the organic ranking, and there's no paid inclusion program that would throw paid results into the organic ones.

Like I said, I don't really follow the results that closely. I checked again and we were back up to #3 in the serps. Still wierd tho, how we're #1 & 2 in the api results. Go figure.

I've been using my the API with my own keyword tracker for over here and ditto here - the results are usually quite small, and not that much different than using www.google.com a few different times.
