We are a South African ISP that designs and hosts websites. We are not a SEO company but do try design using the more common techniques to help our clients get some relevant traffic to their sites.
Our one client is a car rental company, and the main key phrase is:
car rental johannesburg
the site did really well and appeared in the top half of the first results page for Google; now we are competing with bigger directories and losing ground.
My first question is: one of the sites that do really well is [URL Snipped]
they have blatantly used masses of keyword links at the bottom of the page-not intended for the user. Does anyone know if Google will pick this up and reject this site because of a supposed spam technique?
Second question: To compete with these sites - should we do the same? Has it become an ethical technique?
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks and regards
