a corporation such as McDonalds does have a role to play in encouraging balance in peoples diets.
Why? They aren't in the "let me teach you how to have a healthy life" business. They are in the "buy my stuff" business.
IMO, it all comes down to choices. It really ticks me off that people blame companies or other people for something that is entirely under their control. (Unless you're one of the truly rare cases of thyroid problem, etc.)
I don't care to hear smokers blame the tobacco industry because they smoke. Yes, cigs are addictive. Get real... we knew that before the industry fessed up to it. Every tried to quit? Then you know cigarettes are addictive.
I don't care to hear abused people apologize for beating their spouse or kids. My father, his brother and his sister were HORRIBLY physically and mentally abused. Were my sister and I? Nope. Why? Because all three of them made a conscious decision when they were teenagers that they would NEVER beat their kids. None of them ever have, either.
Anyway, as someone who has lived a less-than-perfect life and walked away from it, I'm just not very supportive of people who tend to blame their poor choices and bad decisions on others.
Jill... I think I'm about to take over your title!!
