As a user of Web Position Gold I've done a lot of research as to why its not recommended for Google. It violates Googles Terms of Service Agreement so if you use WPG excessivly Google will ban your IP so that you will no longer be able to access their engine.

I've been using WPG for several months doing one or two reports every couple days and have had no problem. I don't think that you'll encounter any problems with Google, and somewhere on their site it even says if you MUST use software such as Web Position Gold then do it during non-peak hours (i.e. Use WPG's Scheduler to run your reports at 3 a.m. or some other off hour)

Running one or two reports during normal hours and setting the speed to pause between searches, shouldn't annoy Google to the point where it will ban you and no matter what unless you are running WPG from the IP your site is hosted on (which probably 99.5% of us wouldn't be) it won't affect your site.
