Hi All,

I am a newbie to this forum. I have joined a company Skelta Software as the Online Marketing Executive and I am responsible for the website marketing. Our website www.skelta.com was ranking very high on the 1st Page for the keyword workflow .net, which is also the name of our product Skelta Workflow.net – which is the world’s 1st embeddable .net workflow engine for developers.

Over the past 1 month I have noticed that the sites of our resellers and the sites which have articles related to our product show up higher that our company product website. I have optimised the site based on tips from Jill in her informative newsletters. Kindly advise!!

Thank you so much in advance.

Regards

Dominic

Dominic, you should remove that link before a moderator gets here. Forum Rules >> http://www.highranki...?act=boardrules

Obviously the other sites are just deemed more relevant / better optimized than your own site or the SE's just find them more relevant possibly for like information? Maybe you should be including articles written about your products on your site as say "informative articles" for your customers to peruse.

Either way though, as long as the customers are finding their way to your site and purchasing.....win win really.

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for the feedback and I have taken the link out. maybe I'll look into the other higher ranked sites and find out in what way they are better than my site

Welcome Dominic !

As Anthony mentioned, it's really a win-win situation if your site and your affiliates/resellers are all ranking well for your main phrases. It means you've apparently got some skilled resellers out there working on your behalf.

That said, I would encourage you to read, read read around the forums here as you'll quite likely pick up several good tips to help to push your site higher. You may also pick up some marketing tips you can share with your resellers as well. So another win-win.

Feel free to join in the fun we have around here. Definitely ask questions when something isn't clear for you. That'll quickly get you up to the 20 post level, which will then entitle you to request a Site Review.

Welcome Dominic!

You might try putting some informative articles on our site also, as Google apparently prefers information sites over commercial ones these days.

Hi Randy,
Thanks for the inputs, I've been reading Jill Whallen's newsletter and implementing all the tips she gives.

I would like to know how important is the title tag and will it be an advantage to start the title tag with the keyword. secondly will it be an advantage to use the keyword in your title tag

Regards
Dominic

Thanks Jill,
This is the first time I've ever registered in any forum and I'm already feeling very comfortable. Let me tell you one more thing that i'm a big fan of you and your newsletters, Believe me just by taking inputs from your newsletter. I rank 2,3 on the first page in google for some of the premium keywords bigger companies are fighting out in India

Thanks to you for that :)

Dominic

The title tag is probably the most important element in your web pages. Yes you should make sure your keywords are represented there but be careful at the same time not to over do it such as trying to stuff all your keywords into the title tag of your home page or something like that. That is why you should optimize each page of your site for a different keyword phrases or phrases, and of course something that is relevant to that specific page.

Thanks Randy,
I think you've answered my question, i would also like to know about the usage of your keywords in the links to other pages and incoming links.

I believe its good if we repeat the content of the title somewhere in the copy of the page. Do we have to repeat the content of the desciption tag in the copy of the page

Regards
Dominic
