A Brush With "the Man"

It's a guy calling from Yahoo Canada! At first he wasn't clear on why he was calling... said he found our site on a search (heh). I was like- "oh my god!".
Turns out, it was just a salesman checking if we were interested in listing our company in their online job search system. *tsk* just another annoying sales call. Polite people they have there though.
I should've asked him for SEO tips....
Such a strange call to get... especially since we're a small company in a small city, and SEO has become my new pet project. Freaky.

Isn't English great? You can have two different spellings, two different meanings and two totally different sets of slang words and they say it's still the same language!
Funny story: My pastor from here in Key West, FL USA went to England and was visiting a pastor friend there. He says that everything in England is up. They ring you up and call you up... everything is "up". He was terribly shocked the night that his English friend said "I'll be by in the morning to knock you up." Of course, he meant he would knock on the door. In America the slang term "knock you up" refers to getting someone pregnant. It took awhile for my pastor to shake out the bewilderment running through his head and realize what he meant!

It can mean the same here in England - but I guess it is more common amongst the youth of the UK!
