Hi,
I have been looking at building another web site and business in a very focused niche. Since this niche's products are mostly books and some movies, I was thinking of using Amazon instead of stocking inventory.
Though the commission structure isn't bad (but not real great either), the 24 hour cookie doesn't settle well with me. Has anyone had experience with an Amazon shop and have you been able to make a living/decent profit from it? If so was it US or UK or both?
Thanks is advance for any advice.

Hi Mercy,
sounds like an interesting idea for a site, but that sounds like a business model with very little chance to succeed. If everyone clicking through to Amazon happens to add a DVD player to their shopping cart you'll make a few bucks, but it's still not a lot of money.
The only time I've seen someone make some decent cash from affiliate links to books was on a non-profit health site recommending books for further reading on subjects they covered on specific pages.
Assuming your site has some content other than affiliate links, you'll probably make more money from syndicating Google Adsense ads onto the site.
My observations are based on a US audience.

I make about $30 - $70 a quarter through Amazon affiliate links. Nice spare change, but not a good business model!
That said, affiliate program can work if you use them correctly. I.e., build great content around them.
