I have been trying to find the answer to this question but haven't really been having a good time with it.
We are working with a client who has a bunch of domain names that get good type in traffic or so he claims for words related to his business. He wants to have them point to his active website but doesn't want this to hurt his search engine rankings. I discussed the 301 redirect but he doesn't have the ability to do this. Is there a safe way on the DNS level to point these sites properly and what is the appropriate terminology to explain this correctly.

You can simply park the domains to the same IP. That will work.
Why not way to do a 301? Isn't that fairly straightforward and easy?

In the same vein, I have a client who wants to change his main domain name - what's the best way to go about this??
Also, if you advise that I should use 301 redirects to point his other half dozen domains to this new domain name, can you please direct me to an article that will tell this newbie how to go about it.
Thanks very much.
