This is so funny that you just have to laugh.

I have recently worked on a road haulage site, and it is now sat mid first page in about 7.5 million results, great we all say ;)

Tonight I received an email from the client, who is checking everything all the time (as they do) he told me of another site in the UK, who have stolen the content of the site. Bad Thieves I cried, but it turns out they are worse than bad they are rubbish. Not only have they stolen the content, but the have left the name of the original company in the body copy ;) TOO FUNNY.

Not happy with that alone, they have also left the hypertext links live and pointing to the absolute pages on my clients site. It wouldn't be so bad, but they are now showing up page one on MSN.

The client thinks it is hilarious, he is annoyed that he paid for the work and it has been stolen, but he thinks it is absolutely side splitting. This site has been up for about 6 weeks since the redesign, ho fast do these thieves work? by the way, the company designing this site are not the company who own the site, they are not some child designer, they are a British PLC (who obviously sub contract work out to child designers or other parts of the world).

What should we do? tell them to remove the stolen copy, or allow them to make themselves look stupid and send traffic to my clients website?

Some people are even crap at being scumbags, what hope is there for the world ;)

Flamin Nora! I think there will be some red faces soon in some corner of web designer land!

I had to do some work recently for an environmental services company and they handed over a load of newspaper articles (great bed time reading - not!). After reading this stuff I then went onto the web, and oh look there was an article that I had read in it's original form on the index page of another environmental company's website!!!!

Back to your story OWG - I think I would leave it there and let the so and so's direct their traffic to your site!!!!!!!

Let us know what you do in the end!!!

You are a tease OWG

How about a search term? A teensy, little clue perhaps? I wanna see! :)
(You could PM me and I'll do a Google search so the traffic comes in through Google)

Personally, I would have some fun with it. Especially if the company (not the designers, the site owner) was local.

Simply ring them up and ask to speak to whoever is over their web development. Lay out all of the facts for them, including the fact that their design company have neglected to remove the links to your client's site. And try really hard not to laugh when explaining to them that this will not do.

That's one way to get a designer fired. :hmm:
