Hi,

I'm planning on buying a domain example.com, however if i google example - the stock information comes up, my concern is will I be able to have my product be #1 in google if i type in 'example' or it will always be the stock information?

Thanks!

Only when your website has been around for many, many years and is more "important" than the URLs that are currently shown to Google users.

When (and whether) your page ever shows up at or near the top in search depends entirely on your skill as an optimizer, relative to the optimization skills of your competitors. The presence of a "keyword" in the domain name is essentially irrelevant.

torka - thanks, that is really helpful, and one of the reasons I was aiming for 'crm' keyword in the domain was as 'seo value', but as you mentioned and from the research I did - the domain name is irrelevant as far as the keywords and seo goes right?

Pretty much. It can possibly help a little bit if people link to your pages using the domain name as the anchor text for their link. But in general, there are so many other things you could do that would have so much more effect that it's really not worth obsessing over. IMO, better to have a memorable, brandable name that will stick in peoples' minds than a generic boring "keyword" as your domain name.
