Hi All,

My company owns two websites:

Website A is a Hotel/Accommodation site, as is Website B.

Website A is being discontinued, so we're planning on redirecting the url to Website B.

With my basic SEO knowledge, I'm thinking that this shouldn't fall foul of Google. My reasoning: If people search for an hotel/guesthouse and find a link to website A, they will not be disappointed to land on Website B, as the same service is offered there. I understand that if Website A was a plumbing business and was being redirected to Website B (a hotel business), there would be issues.

Am I right?

Also: Will these redirects from the discontinued Website A negatively impact on Website B?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

NeilH

As long as the other site wasn't penalized or had a lot of spammy links  then it should be fine. Even if they weren't on the same topic (although that would suck for users).
