Hello,

I've been working on a whole rebranding of a website including a new logo. Unfortunately I do not have access to the companies google business page and they do not know who created it or whether it was created automatically by Google.

The problem I'm having is that the Google business page is still displaying the old logo. Even though I contacted Google several months ago I have not been able to sort out the problem. I have read that maybe Schema.org’s Organization Markup might be the answer by inserting the logo into a div in the header of the website. For example:

<div itemscope itemtype=”http://schema.org/Organization”><a itemprop=”url” href=”http://www.example.com/”>Home</a>
<img itemprop=”logo” src=” />
</div>

Does anybody know whether this is the best way to do this or whether there is another way?

Thank you

I'd consider creating a new page.

Hi Jill, thanks for your quick response. I've already created another page, however, the old page still appears when typing in the company name into google.

Have you tried claiming the old page?

What specifically were the problems you encountered in trying to claim the old page? It's been awhile, but I seem to recall it was just a matter of verifying (through one means or another) that you're authorized to manage the page. If we knew what problems you'd experienced, we might be able to help you troubleshoot so you could get access to the old page.

Hi Torka,

Yes I've tried the verification method, it was most likely created by an old web design company. I tried to ask for administration rights through Google, but nobody ever responded. I was also contacted by Google themselves and they were unable to reach the person who created the page.

But they should be able to verify the company itself as the owner via an automated verification phone call to the main company's phone number. Or if not that, then via a postcard to the company address.

Why hasn't that worked for you?
