I built a website using a Joomla template. The site came pre-loaded with sample content - lots of menus and pages that have nothing to do with my business. Basically placeholder content.

Now I realize google crawled my site and indexed several pages which I should have deleted prior to going live. I have since deleted the articles and menus from my site, but I still see them showing up in SERPS when I use my domain name as the search string.

Also, I just received an email from Google warning me that several pages aren't mobile-responsive, and the pages listed in the report are these extraneous pages that I never wanted to begin with.

I'm new to Webmaster Tools and I need to know the best way to tell Google what pages I have and what pages should be removed from their index.

Is there a way to see a comprehensive list of every page Google has indexed on my site?

And is there a good way to remove the ones that shouldn't be there?

Thanks!

Redirect the URLs.

Don't worry about it. Google will reindex soon and all will be fine.

Thank you all so much for your input!

I had already deleted the articles and menu items from the website long ago, but the pages weren't returning 404 not found messages. Instead they were returning database error codes from my site. So Google thought the pages still existed.

I contacted my host and it turned out to be a known Joomla issue and we got it fixed, so now all those pages are truly gone and returning 404 codes :)
