Hoooray! I was spidered today!

Anyone know how long it takes to appear in the index after being spidered?

It varies a lot, but congratulations anyway! Assuming the bots got the right response from your server (200), you're on your way to the index.

By the way, I caught that "woot". You wouldn't be a closet Canuck now, would you?

I'm so happy that I can stop checking my logs like every 5 minutes to see if google has come. It's actually wierd because EVERYONE came today, and pretty much all at the same time. Alexa, looksmart, yahoo, google, and something I'm pretty sure was MSN. Kind of a wierd "coincidence" isn't it? (insert consipiracy theory here).

Canada rocks! (hm hmmmmm hm hmm, hm hmmmmm hm hmm....)

After they show up the first time, you'll notice that a lot of them come back just about every day.

Congrats clubM, 24-72 hours is the norm, sometimes a little longer, but rarely more than a week.

Getting into the index doesn't mean you will rank for much of anything except your business name yet. It usually takes 1-2 months after your site is in the index to see where you'll land in the SERP's. In the meantime, it may come and go from higher spots- try not to worry over it.

Yup. Now you can wait at least 8 minutes between checks to see if it's come back again. :)

Also, don't get scared when you see your site in the index one day and not the next. That's normal, and you're not banned.

Crap, why did you have to say that? I thought I was actually going to be able to spend time doing something else! :)

Good advice, thanks for letting me know, since I probably would have been on this board in about 2 seconds asking about it :tooth:
