I have a site that is promoting widgets of various descriptions.

My 3 top keywords are typeA widgets, typeB widgets, typeC widgets.

Which title tag is better.

typeA widgets : typeB widgets : typeC widgets

or

widgets : typeA : typeB : typeC (and then perhaps some more types?)

My worry is that with the first tag I will be penalised for spamming the word widget - especially as it is all over the whole site - and there are no alternatives in the thesaurus.

Thanks

Or why not a title on a "main" page with a title of typeA, typeB and typeC Widgets. Which is then reinforced by links leading off of this "main" page to individual pages for each of the widget types?

thanks for the reply.

So - will my keyphrase "TypeA widgets" be equally well accepted by the SE's with the titles:

typeA widgets : typeB widgets : typeC widgets

vs.

typeA, typeB and typeC Widgets

I suppose what I'm asking is does it matter if the two words TypeA and widget are together or not.

IMO, it's best to have the exact phrase together, but you have other opportunities beyond the Title tag to do this.

I wouldn't use any one-word more than 2 times in the Title tag, personally. But it's not spam or anything if you do.

If they are not together, then it will not be looked at as a phrase at least and if you are targeting them as individual phrases, then you need to have them together all while trying not to have a dumb looking title.

I think Randy's advice was good to target them in general using "widget" once and then use the product pages for "typeA widgets : typeB widgets : typeC widgets."
