Hi, I don't know if I should be asking this here but here goes anyway, I have installed WebPosition Gold 2 and it does look like a very good program, I use the Reporter option to gather statistics about one of our web sites, unfortunatly the site has 40 keyphrases so it takes a while, the problem I have is, if I select Google.com it takes 12-15 minutes for each phrase. if I do the same run and select Google.co.uk the run is much faster, my questions are:
1/. Is anyone else having the same problems and if so what can I do to solve it?
2/. Is there going to be a difference between the runs for .com and .co.uk, if not I may give up and just use the .co.uk results.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's against Google's terms of Service to use automatic rank checkers on it.
You would be better served by choosing one of Googles partners that uses Googles results but doesn't have that restriction, such as AOL.

You should definitely not run WPG on Google. That's not a smart thing to do. They penalize sites if they know for sure it's yours and they disallow you from searching there, if they catch you.

Google will not penalize your site for running ranking reports (usually). If you have been running reports, your IP could be blocked from accessing Google. In that case, apologize nicely and promise to stop running reports. Sometimes it can be as simple as that.

To add to what Matt said, I couldn't see Google punishing a site for checking rankings with a ranking checker. If that was the case, what would stop someone's competition from sabotaging them by abusing a ranking checker with their site? Google understands this. That is why they would simply block an IP address by which someone is accessing Google so one could not search.

Oh yes they do penalize you if they know it's your site.
For instance, if you do it from an office, the IP show's your company!
They will also penalize SEO sites and Webmaster sites if they see them post automated ranking reports that list Google. Or if they say they run them on Google.
And just ask our own Barry Lloyed about getting sites penalized for running automated queries...or better yet, look it up in a forum search as he's mentioned it here a few times.
