Hi,

I have a site. It list ok on all search engines (google, yahoo, bing etc). But on google, when i search using the full domain name(eg (xyz.co.uk). Google only list the main domain, not the sub pages. So only one link.

Site designed using wordpress, Yoast WordPress SEO. All ok

Checked robots.txt

User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/

All ok.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you are not using "noindex" on any pages of the site.

Have you earned natural links from other sites?

Do you publish content on the site regularly?

Hi Jill and others for the reply

What does google show when you search site:xyz.co.uk ?

When i try this Jill. It does list all the pages from the domian. All ok.

It's when i search without the site:

only list home page (main domain).

It appears Google has all your pages indexed. It's just that they've decided that for a search on your exact domain name, the home page is the most relevant result. (Not surprising, really.)

Search results are not only query specific, but they're also personalized (even when people aren't signed in to a Google account). This means that other people won't necessarily see the same result you do... and even if they do, if they're searching for you using your entire domain name, showing them your home page seems reasonable. They're not searching for any of your products or services, they're searching for your domain name and for that the home page seems to me to be the correct response.

If the only thing that shows is your home page when they search for specific products or services, that might be a different matter (depending on your site structure, navigation and link profile). But for this specific query, returning the home page makes sense.

So now the question becomes, how many people (besides you) are going to be searching for you on Google using your entire domain name? And why would returning the home page not be the correct response for that query?

I guess I just don't see why this is a problem. :dntknw:
