Hi all,

I have a website but its struggling to rank in google. There are no 404 or 301 errors. I'm not 100% sure my robots file is correct. Could this be preventing my site from being indexed?

User-agent: *
Allow: /
Disallow: /admin/
sitemap:/sitemap.xml

Many thanks!!!

Being indexed and appearing in the results are two very different things, so which is the real problem?

Thanks for the article and i will take all that information on board.

I didn't know if the way I have written my robots file I have told search engines not to index the pages. Wasn't 100%. I have tried to stop admin from being indexed.

To check if you have, though it would not appear so from the robots.txt data you posted, use site:yourdomain.tld in a Google search.
