It really depends on what the site is about. A software site I run (huge enterprise application) gets the most traffic on Wednesday, probably because people use Monday and Tuesday to catch up on work and then get around to research.

Another site I run, which is more entertainment/arts based has pretty steady traffic all week.

My own site is pretty dead on the weekends, but Monday-Friday is fairly stable.

I seem to remember something from about a year ago that said that the average top day is Tuesday. But, as everyone points out, it depends upon who/what you're site is for/about.

For our sites which are resort oriented, Tuesday and Wednesday are the busiest days especially during the 1-3 pm time slot. These, however, are not the busiest conversion days. Our conversion rate is the best on the weekends, our slowest time. This, I believe, is due to the fact we are high ticketed items and folks need time to research before the families make a joint decision on the weekend. IMHO the conversion rate is the key and its timing will vary depending on the industry.

Completely depends on the site.

I just ran through the stats on 5 sites and they are all different based on the different target audience.

That's true, it really depends on the type of visitors you receive.

Monday is our busiest day, but we do advertise businesses for sale so it might have something to do with people looking for a change of career/monday blues??

Tuesday is my highest traffic day followed by Monday and Wednesday. Everything goes down hill from there. For the company I work for it is Monday. That is internet retail so that is probably the reason for the Monday spike. All those people needing to receive a certain item by the weekend. It does look like the trend is the beginning of the week, based on the other comments.
