I have a general understanding of this files purpose, but is there any reason that a non-search engine user would be requesting it?

I had an IP today request this file 15 times over 4 hours and I don't know why.

Hackers sometimes like to look at them to see if you have any stuff you don't want indexed which might be of interest to them.

But it's probably just some rogue spider or something, I would think.

Actually, turns out it was looksmart!

Problem is, that's the only thing they ask for, then the crawler leaves :D
