Hi Guys,

 

I am in the process of building a new website for our company and wanted to know that if I link my page to a codey url with number at then end will like this =314 will google penalise this. the link is harmless enough and goes the the topic of the page any help would be great thanks.

Actually that is totally and utterly incorrect and so far 'out of date' that only archaeologists should be trying to understand it.

People do not like codey URLs and Google (among many others) has pointed out for years that user-readable URLs are just easier to remember.  But the search engines really don't care what is in the URLs.

 

In fact, the longer a URL is the less important its readability tends to be.  The average user is not going to memorize a URL like this:

 

/category/wet-suits/the-best-diving-experience-you-can-find/
