First hi to everybody,

I am new at this subject of SEO, so don't hurt me please

I would like to ask if it is reasonable to use url with keywords, eg.

http://monalisa.aiwaz.net
instead of
http://www.aiwaz.net...alisa/index.htm?

Thanx, David

In the example you gave, a search engine like Google would not see "monalisa" as equivalent to "mona lisa", and I doubt many people would search on it as a single word. In that sense, I don't think it would do you much good.

In my opinion, your second example would work fine, as long as you separated the two words with a hyphen: leonardo/mona-lisa/index.html

Unless you've got an awful lot of material on that one painting, I don't see any reason to create a subdomain for it.

Bob, thanx for your answers,

and unfortunately I already dabbled with this subdomains that helped nothing.

Do I switch back or stay with these?

Thanx, David

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much as it's not give much (if any) weight with the search engines.

The benefit is more of an indirect one, where people linking to you may use the URL and thus have the keywords in the hyperlink.

As long as the page is optimized for the particular phrase, i.e., the copy and tags, etc., then it's not critical to name the files with keywords. Certainly, it's fine to do so if it makes sense, but it's nothing to worry about or obsess over.
