RSS, an XML sitemap, attracting links to the page, and announcing the post on Google+ will help, but the best thing you can do is standard marketing: create valuable content and reach out to your potential audience and influential people in your niche. What's going to get your new content indexed quickly is a matter of convincing the search engines that they should prioritize crawling the site because your content actually matters to searchers.

If you are using WordPress then be sure to publish POSTs and not just PAGEs and let the blog ping the search tools (do not block search engines in your settings).

And you can submit your pages for crawling through Bing and Google's Webmaster dashboards.

Tweeting a link to the new content generally does the trick as well.
