hey

i started out hosting local bands site on resellers accounts a few years ago, im now moving to automated creation of accounts etc on the site, like a full (hosting) sales and support site.

because im targeting unsigned bands, and related industries, i have a few cool advertising options planned out over the summer, but in the meantime i have have been thinking about gateway pages, or whatever they are called?

i was thinking of registering a domain i see is available, 'keyword2-keyword1.com' and totally optimise it to the best of my ability (i am aware that this can be achieved with out the domain (jills list), and should maybe concentrate on the main site, which i will) but apart from using the title tag, h1, description meta, effective roboting, alt tags etc, i was wondering about assigning static ip to the domain to perhaps help my case?

is this at all helpfull, or a waste of money?

regards

*edit* also, i take it persuading all the bands i host to link to me on a front page, or anywhere is a good idea? cheers

I would highly doubt the nameserver which a site is assigned to matters at all...I don't see why it would, or the IP for that matter. Spiders, as I understand it, see domain names and file names in hyperlinks and nothing more.

FYI, I have a home studio info site that is full of unsigned bands and artists...and some very good ones...check it out at http://www.homerecor...connection.com/

Oh, and yes, having all the bands link to you would be good.

doesn't the forum from which a topic is moved leave behind a "moved" topic...that isn't really very user friendly...
