I have a property management website that ranks pretty well in local search results for targeted key phrases. However, the site doesn't rank organically outside the local search results for any keywords.

What could be the cause of this?

Thanks!

Jill,

Would you recommend beefing up SEO efforts?

Depends on what that would entail. Right now, that phrase is pretty meaningless.

I think it also depends on whether traffic from outside the local area is going to be of any value. Does the company manage properties outside the local area? Do they plan to?

More competition is a given, there is always competition, or more competition than there is of your own site.

The issue will be that you don't have enough page authority or domain authority, perhaps on-page optimization is weak.

There is no such thing! It's just a BS 'metric' invented by the SEO MoZ "experts" to make their "SEO toolkit" appear useful.
