If you want to reply to a thread and don't need the formatting buttons, click on the Fast Reply button just after the last post in the thread and a text box will open for your post.

If you really like it, you can go into My Controls, then Board settings and turn the Fast Reply default on. For people who post a lot, that can save you a click! :learn:

Yay! I like this fast reply feature. Saves a bit of time in that I can click, type, and hit the add reply button all from the same page.

Hey... this would be fast, except I sat there waiting for it to load, not seeing that it had opened below the window. Ha!
Cool feature. Anything that makes this faster is good-- I do my posting and reading in 60-second increments while my site is uploading.

Jill- you can still get the smiley window if you need it. There is a link to open the whole list of smileys for you. (There goes your bandwidth savings :upsidedown: ) What you don't have is the format (bold, URL, quote) buttons.
If you set it to be always on (from your MY Controls), you don't have to click "Fast Reply" to open it. It will just open on every page you view.

Fast Reply on by default is the only, only way I will ever, ever stop using these silly smileys.
(because of course clicking the link to pop up their window just isn't right.)
