Dear All,

We are running a webstie for Chinese Community , and our mainpage is, say,  www.mywebsite.com .  Half year ago, we changed our platform, and built a new version, and the mainpage will go to www.mywebsite.com/new, the new website is doing very well and the page rank is 5.

As we have visitors from both main China and Taiwan, we need to provide both gb (simplified Chinese) and big5 (Complex Chinese) for them. For example, the links for one article will be :

      www.mywebsite.com/new/article.html (for gb font)

     www.mywebsite.com/new/big5/article.html  (for big5 font)

As the organization of two kinds of links are not good, just about one week before, we decided to change the format to:

     www.mywebsite.com/gb/article.html (for gb font)

     www.mywebsite.com/big5/article.html  (for big5 font)

And the default mainpage is www.mywebsite.com/gb

For all the old posts, we were using 301 redirect to the new format.

But what we found is, the google rank for  www.mywebsite.com/gb is 0, and all the newly published articles have very bad position in google search.

Could anyone tell me what happen to my google rank, and how I get back the google ranking for my mainpage?

Thanks a lot!

www.mywebsite.com/gb is 0,

Assuming that is PageRank, forget about it, it means nothing at all.

But what we found is, the google rank for  www.mywebsite.com/gb is 0

Toolbar PageRank is only updated about 1 time a year so you can't use that for anything.

If you've lost traffic to those pages, I would double check  your 301 redirects, plus make sure as many of the links pointing to the old pages now point to the new ones as possible.

Also, if you changed the site structure, how each page ranks to each other, that could cause problems because you've changed the internal PageRank of each page.
