There has been talk recently about the cons of using the typical jquery "slider" on the home page of the site.  I have read different articles with different points of view.

I have used them in recent web developments .....like many, many other developers.  When I started working with them it seemed weird that they seemed to push too much "below the fold," and I did see that as one of the disadvantages.

Just wondering what Jill's and other's opinions are on this.  I want to ask a source that i trust :)

Thanks.

Personally I'm of the opinion that they really have NO place for a commercial website ESPECIALLY when they take up 3/4 or more of the screen and just distract vistors from what the document is actually about.

But if you want to see what a search engine 'sees' open the URL and view the source code.
