Hello all,

We have a domain with one of the primary keyword within the domain itself (ex. audisite) and reading through some of the topics, having a keyword within the domain itself seems to be not as significant as we had assumed. We currently have a URL strucuture (/new-audi/a4 ) which we were thinking of modifying to something like site.co.uk/a4 based on the premise that the 'audi' keyword is already in the domain itself.

Also in terms of URL optimization, which of these will be the most effective URL (if the content is exactly the same). Or is my whole approach to URL optimization fundamentally incorrect?

  • /a4
  • /new-audi-a4
  • /new/audi-a4
  • /new-audi/a4
  • /new/audi/a4

I will be very grateful for any advice/suggestions/pointers. Thank you very much for your time.

All, either or none.

It won't make any difference to the search engine traffic to your site.

Hi Jill,

Thank you for your reply. Please forgive my ignorance but given my relative inexperience with SEO, the answer has confused me more than the question. If it is possible, could you please point to some resources which will help me deciper the answer . Thank you for your time.

Thank you for the reply and I will go through the articles. But sorry to be Captain Obvious but if it doesn't matter IN THE SLIGHTEST, what would matter in terms of URL Strucuture? Thank you once more for your time.

URL structure is not much of a factor. It's how you link to each URL within your site that is important.
