Going to post something on our blog for a big company and of course they wanted an anchor text link out which I always turn down but I suppose I could nofollow the link.

Anyway have persuaded them to accept links back to their social profiles.

Question is should I nofollow these as I guess links to social profiles do pass some value, I mean could google possibly see these as paid links?

Thanks Danny

It's always possible. The fact that they're links to social profiles versus the company's main website doesn't really make any difference in that regard.

If you're really concerned this could negatively affect you, then nofollow the links. They'll potentially count as citations, which would still benefit the link target, and could still send them direct traffic (which is what really should be the goal of any link).

My :02: only, YMMV.
