I have a well established website (flyte.biz) and a well established blog (flyteblog.com).

I started the blog under a new domain b/c back in 2007 TypePad was the way to go and it was hosted. Now I'm on WordPress for both sites.

As we're considering our latest revamp, I'm considering merging the two domains into one site, even though both do pretty well on SEO.

In addition, I've just come into control of takeflyte.com, which I feel is representative of how we want to position ourselves in the marketplace (web design & marketing for small business.)

The new domain has little trust built up, so I know I'd be taking a hit, but I feel that from a business standpoint (and possibly from an email deliverability standpoint), the new domain is best, and using 301 redirects, we should pursue this course.

However, I'm conflicted. Would love to hear from the rest of you would do in my shoes.

I think long-term business priorities trump SEO priorities.

New domains seem to be fine these days as long as you do the 301s and migrations properly.
