Do you use any limit of characters for domain names? Do you think www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com is too long?

It depends on who you are targeting... If your targeting SEs then long isn't a big problem just don't go excessive and seperate keywords with a -

If your targeting a human then they will hate you for making them type that much. Assuming they remember it.

www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.com owes its existence to 63 character limit on domain names.

{ its a town in Wales UK }

Ugh. I'm soooo glad I've never had to post any mail to someone in that town...

I would advise something sensible instead of spam such as www.the-best-vacation-places-in-florida.com, etc. I usually avoid such domain names as I can be fairly sure of finding a spammy site underneath the spammy domain name.

Who would target just the search engines and not humans?

Spammers for one, lol. When I do searches, I almost never click on long domain names simply because I know what kind of site it probably is. A #1 ranking on every search term would be of little value if enough people were like me and didn't click on those kinds of domain names. I think two words is usually the max for good domain names.
